The aim of the Shell Chess Club is too promote the playing of chess. Chess is the oldest game known to man and is the foremost board game in the world. We currently use the superb club called Shell named after the famous oil company and forms part of their social structure. The Shell Chess Club is located in Corringham, Essex. The Shell Chess Club has organised various Simuls Vs Grandmasters. Karpov, Larsen and Short have all visited the Shell Chess Club to play. The Shell Chess Club is located near Thurrock. We are the premier Chess Club in the Thurrock area. If You live in Thurrock why not play Chess for us. The club was formed after we lost our venue at Grays. We used to be known as Grays Chess Club. There is still a Grays Chess club, but now mostly caters for Juniors. The Shell Chess Club were formed as we could find no venue in Grays. All the Strong Grays Chess Club Players now play at The Shell Chess Club.
